Popular Hiking Trails
Mini World’s End Trail
Located towards the southern end of the Knuckles mountain range, Mini World’s End features a cliff that provides expansive views of the surrounding area. The trail starts at the Knuckles Conservation Centre and is a relatively short hike.
Dothalugala Nature Trail
This popular hiking trail leads to Dothalugala Mountain, one of the many peaks in the Knuckles mountain range, offering panoramic views of the southern end of the range. The trail starts at the Knuckles Conservation Centre.
Trail to Nitro Caves from Corbett’s Gap
This nature trail leads to the Nitro Caves, a cave with saltpeter deposits. The trail starts from Corbett’s Gap and is a longer hike, taking several hours to complete.
Bambarella Hike
The Bambarella trail is a route to reach the summit of Knuckles. The trail begins on the right side of the tarred road and continues on a flat surface with little vegetation cover for some distance until a junction.
Duwili Ella and Knuckles Summit Trail
This challenging trail takes trekkers to the highest point in the range, offering panoramic views. This is a long hike that can take most of the day.
Trekking the Knuckles Mountain Range can be challenging because of the thick fog, unpredictable weather, and leech population. Hikers should prepare for changing landscapes, from grasslands to rugged mountain peaks, with streams and waterfalls in between. It is also recommended to hire a local guide.
